CLUB UPDATE
A BIG MONTH BEHIND THE SCENES
We are incredibly proud of what our small but dedicated team has managed to achieve during just four weeks of closure. While there is still plenty on the to-do list ahead of us (with a few baby steps — and the occasional face plant along the way!), the past month has been a fantastic example of what can be achieved when our team and community come together to support some long-overdue improvements to our Club.
With only a short closure window available, the call went out for an “all hands on deck” effort, and once again our Bowlsie community delivered. A sincere thank you goes to everyone who volunteered their time, skills and energy to help bring these projects to life.
Roof Works
One of the largest projects currently underway is the Club roof repair. Phil and his team have made outstanding progress and are already ahead of schedule, with completion currently anticipated towards the end of March.
Greens Maintenance
Significant maintenance works have also been completed across both greens. As it has been several years since major works were undertaken, members should notice a real improvement in playing conditions. The Jim Eugarde Green will remain closed until April to allow for additional recovery time, while extra care is being taken with the main green in preparation for our upcoming Reef & Beef Competition. With a new water pump on order, along with new hoses, rubber matting and additional upgrades arriving soon, Grahame continues to work tirelessly to gradually lift the overall standard of our greens.
The Curlew Kitchen
The kitchen refurbishment has been one of the Club’s biggest undertakings and has been months in the making. Thanks to an enormous effort led by Andy, the space has undergone a complete rebuild with brand-new equipment installed throughout. We are proud to report the kitchen received a 100% approval rating during our recent Health Inspection. We’re excited to see Gab and his team thrive in the newly named Curlew Kitchen — and don’t forget to check out the new menu now available on our website!
Bar & Dining Area Refresh
The bar and dining areas have also received a fresh new facelift, helping create a more welcoming and vibrant atmosphere throughout the Club. A big thank you to our JVP David for his vision in helping shape the updated look and feel of these spaces.
Behind the Scenes Improvements
The shutdown period also provided an opportunity to complete a range of important behind-the-scenes works across the Club. Servicing was carried out on cellar refrigeration, keg systems, kitchen fridges and freezers, along with extensive work to ensure all back-of-house areas continue to meet compliance requirements. During this time, the Club also welcomed a very positive visit from our auditor as part of the end-of-financial-year review process. This marks an important step forward, and we are hopeful that the Club’s outstanding audits from previous years will be finalised within the upcoming months.
PRICING UPDATE
As part of the ongoing improvements around the Club, members are advised that small price adjustments will be introduced across food, beverages and bowls activities.
Like many community venues, the Bowlsie has experienced increasing costs across suppliers, freight and day-today operations. While we have absorbed these increases where possible, minor pricing changes are now required to help maintain the quality of our facilities, services and overall Club operations.
These updates will assist in supporting continued investment back into the Club, our greens and facilities, while ensuring the Bowlsie remains sustainable for the future.
Updated pricing will come into effect from 11 March 2026. We thank our members and community for their ongoing understanding and support.
BIG THINGS AHEAD FOR THE BOWLSIE
There’s a real buzz around the Bowlsie right now — and it’s only just the beginning.
Following a huge month of upgrades, improvements and plenty of hard work behind the scenes, the Club is stepping into an exciting period of growth, fresh ideas and renewed energy. The recent works have laid the foundation for what’s shaping up to be a big year both on and off the greens.
With our facilities refreshed and momentum building, the focus now turns to bringing the Club to life — more bowls, more events, more good times and more reasons for locals and visitors to make the Bowlsie their place to gather.
From social afternoons on the greens to major events like Reef & Beef, community days and new initiatives still in the pipeline, there’s plenty to look forward to in the months ahead.
What makes it all exciting isn’t just the upgrades — it’s the Bowlsie Team. The volunteers, members, staff and supporters who continue to back the Club and help shape its future.
The Bowlsie has always been about community, and the energy moving forward shows just how strong that community truly is.
The direction is positive, the calendar is filling fast, and the future is looking bright.
