At Point Lookout Bowls Club, community has always been at the heart of everything we do — and now, so is our new kitchen.

We are proud to introduce The Curlew Kitchen.

Anyone who has visited our club would have met our resident curlews — part of the Bowlsie landscape and, as we like to say, unofficial members of the team. They wander the greens, greet our guests, and remind us that we are lucky to call this special place home.

  • The name was truly inspired by community. Local artist Steve Barwell, in one of his unique artworks, wrote a heartfelt letter of thanks to our team. That piece sparked something — a reflection on who we are, where we are, and what makes our club so special.

From that moment, The Curlew Kitchen name was created.

Curlews, while considered vulnerable in many parts of Australia, thrive here on North Stradbroke Island. Their presence is a reminder of the beautiful environment we share and the responsibility we hold to protect and celebrate it.

As our club enters an exciting new chapter, this kitchen represents more than just great food — it represents resilience, community spirit, and the incredible support of our local members, volunteers, artists, suppliers, and friends who made it all possible.

Naming our kitchen after our feathered friends simply made sense.

Welcome to The Curlew Kitchen — proudly local, proudly community, proudly Bowlsie.
